Nielsen expands TV Streaming coverage through strategic alliance with Roku
A strategic alliance between Nielsen and Roku was announced in March of 2021. Roku entered an agreement to acquire Nielsen’s Advanced Video Advertising business. Within the business includes two technologies that provide targeted measurements for advertisers. Terms of the deal also include a strategic partnership to integrate Nielsen ad and content measurement products into the Roku platform. The Roku TV’s don popular streaming services as applications, such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Video, as well as advertisements built seamlessly into the home screen. By integrating into Roku’s products, Nielsen has expanded their measurements into streaming coverage. This alliance is anticipated to increase Nielsen’s market share of TV streaming measurement, of which they have struggled with competition in the past.
