Since the beginning of the COVID-19(Coronavirus) pandemic and through the end of 2021, Waste Connections incurred $40 million in incremental coronavirus related costs. Bonus payments as well as supplemental wages were provided to all frontline employees regardless if they were not union members, and remote or on-site workers. If employees were feeling ill, if they were under quarantine or if they were caring for family members, the company provided full base wages. Additionally, it expanded its Employee Relief Fund for those experiencing financial hardship. Furthermore, it launched the Waste Connections Scholarship Program to assist its employees’ children.
