Easton Coach Company struggling to find drivers for paratransit routes
LANTA Vans, a paratransit service operated by Easton Coach Company in Lehigh Valley, PA experienced its workforce more than half in just more than a year as the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic scared off the older drivers that historically operated the service. The boom in e-commerce has also allowed trucking companies to offer higher wages to the operators for similar work. While LANTA Vans has not had to turn away passengers yet, operators are working ling hours and new hires' salaries were raised to $15 per hour.
COVID|Labor|Structural|M&AIn response to volatile demand in the wake of the first COVID-19 surge, the company undertook a comprehensive cost reduction program, aimed at shoring up labor and supply costs.
